Ashley Dustin

Scientist VI - Senior Research Staff Chemist at HRL Laboratories

Ashley Dustin has a diverse work experience in the fields of chemistry and materials science. Ashley started their career as a Summer Technology Intern at SABIC in 2010. Ashley then joined Virginia Tech as a Graduate Research Assistant from 2010 to 2015. During this time, they gained research experience and worked on various projects.

In 2013, Ashley had a Summer PhD Internship at Procter & Gamble's corporate research and development division. Ashley utilized their polymer synthesis expertise and contributed to the development of technologies with broad applications across multiple business platforms.

After completing their graduate studies, Ashley joined HRL Laboratories, LLC in 2015 as a Post Doc Research Staff. Ashley worked in the Scaled Nanotechnologies group within the Sensors and Materials Laboratory, focusing on developing functional materials for various applications. Ashley then progressed to the role of Scientist IV - Research Staff Member, where they continued to contribute to the development of scalable technologies supporting the company's owners, Boeing and General Motors, as well as government partners.

In 2018, Ashley advanced to the position of Scientist V - Research Staff Chemist, taking on the role of project manager and principal investigator. Ashley led diverse teams and managed multiple research projects with varying degrees of technical expertise required.

Currently, Ashley holds the position of Scientist VI - Senior Research Staff Chemist at HRL Laboratories, LLC. In this senior role, they continue to lead projects and teams, delivering high-performance material solutions to meet the needs of the company's owners and government partners.

Ashley Dustin began their education at the University of Evansville in 2006, where they earned their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Professional Chemistry and Applied Mathematics in 2010. Ashley then went on to pursue their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Chemistry with a focus in organic polymers at Virginia Tech from 2010 to 2015.
