Brett Yurash began their work experience as an Assistant Student Researcher at Santa Clara University in June 2011. In this role, they synthesized and characterized the structure of peptidomimetics (peptoids) and conducted independent experiments. Brett also led a collaboration project with a bioengineering group.
In 2014, Brett joined UC Santa Barbara as a Graduate Student Researcher. Under the supervision of Prof. Thuc-Quyen Nguyen, they used analytical models and Monte Carlo simulations, along with ultrafast laser spectroscopy experiments, to determine the excited-state optical properties of organic semiconductors. Brett developed a new analytical model that was published in Advanced Materials and discovered a novel doping mechanism with broad applicability to organic semiconductors, which was published in Nature Materials and featured in various news outlets. Brett continued their research at UC Santa Barbara until February 2020.
In 2019, Brett interned at HRL Laboratories, LLC for the summer. Brett conducted research in the quantum optics laboratory, performing quantum state tomography and automated measurements using Python and interfacing with multiple computer-controlled devices simultaneously.
In February 2020, Brett returned to HRL Laboratories, LLC as a Staff Scientist. Further details about this role are not provided.
Brett Yurash completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Materials Chemistry from UC Santa Barbara, where they attended from 2014 to 2019. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemistry from Santa Clara University, where they studied from 2010 to 2014. Moreover, there is no available information regarding Brett Yurash's education before attending Santa Clara University, as their attendance dates and degree information are not provided for Ridgeview Classical Schools.
