Owen Owens

Director of Assets & Operations at HTEC Hydrogen Technology & Energy

Owen Owens has diverse work experience spanning various industries and areas of expertise. In 2002, they began their career as a Project Manager and Arctic expedition field technician at the University of Manitoba. During this time, they developed new methods for sampling and collecting data on carbon movement in water, ice, and air. Owen also led sampling teams and trained others in field sampling and lab analysis techniques.

In 2006, Owen worked as a European Program Assistant at IUCN - The World Conservation Union. Owen contributed to the development of the organization's Arctic program and planned and implemented a project management training workshop. Owen also managed IUCN's knowledge network and assisted in recruiting a new European Program director.

From 2007 to 2009, Owen served as a Research Chemist at H2Gen Innovations, where they conducted analytical tests and researched new chemical processing concepts. Owen'sresponsibilities also included designing, building, and operating pilot systems.

Between 2009 and 2012, Owen worked as a Researcher and Research Manager at the University of Oxford Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment. Owen produced reports on industry energy efficiency and knowledge transfer, aiding strategists and policymakers. Owen also designed projects, managed budgets, and oversaw their submission.

In 2011, Owen contributed to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) as a Report Writer, collecting and presenting data on the impact of climate change on human health.

From 2011 to 2015, Owen worked as a Consultant Researcher at a private company, providing technical advice on bio-waste to chemical processes and emission control. Owen'sclients included industrial chemical producers, energy generators, and international aid organizations.

In 2012, Owen joined the Oxford Martin School as a Researcher, investigating novel crop irrigation techniques. Owen engineered automated pilot systems, conducted lab experiments, and analyzed biomass growth and other products.

Most recently, Owen holds the position of Director of Assets & Operations at HTEC since 2013. Owen'srole involves overseeing assets and operations, as well as serving as a project manager and contributing to various aspects of design.

Throughout their career, Owen has demonstrated expertise in research, project management, technical advice, and environmental sciences.

Owen Owens obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Science, specializing in Environmental Sciences, analytical environmental chemistry, and organic and marine chemistry. This degree was achieved between 1996 and 2002.

Following this, Owens pursued a Master of Science degree at the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Earth, Environment, and Resources. During their time there, they focused on Arctic sea ice and seawater geochemistry, as well as surface micrometeorology. Owens completed their Master's degree in 2003.

In addition to their academic achievements, Owens obtained a PRINCE2 Registered Practitioner certification in Project Management from AMPG-UK in August 2011.
