David Cleverley Cert CII AMInstLM

David Cleverley has over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry. From 1997 to 2002, they worked at Premium Line Underwriting Agency, starting as an underwriter before being promoted to Renewals Manager. David then joined NIG as a Business Development Executive from 2002 to 2006.

In 2006, Cleverley joined The Policy Shop Insurance Services Ltd as Manager of the Non-Standard Motor Department, where they expanded the department's capabilities and grew gross written premium (GWP) to £1.8 million. David later moved to Home & Legacy Insurance Services as Motor Products Manager, where they designed and launched the company's first motor product and negotiated with insurers.

Cleverley then spent three years at Chaucer Syndicates Ltd as a Motor Schemes Underwriter. During this time, they achieved the profit target by exceeding loss ratio and net premium income targets, growing net premium income by approximately £2.8 million, and improving the net earned loss ratio.

From 2013 to 2015, Cleverley served as Underwriting Director at The A&A Group & Mulsanne Insurance Company Ltd, where they had P&L responsibility and was a full board member of the main Group Board. David led reinsurance presentations and negotiations, implemented governance and controls, and managed conflicts of interest.

In 2015, Cleverley established their own consultancy business, Cleverley Done Consulting Ltd, where they worked with insurance brokers, insurers, and MGAs. David developed underwriting capacity and established an MGA for a telematics broker and built underwriting and pricing models for a telematics private car product. David also worked as an Interim Underwriting Governance Manager at Geo Underwriting, designing and building the Fair Value Assessment (FVA) and leading the Value Measures and FCA GIPP reporting project.

In 2022, Cleverley briefly worked as a Product Specialist at Aon before taking on their current role as Head of Motor Underwriting at hubb in 2023.
