Dan Royal, PE has a diverse range of work experience. Dan served as a Technical Mentor and Past President at Engineers Without Borders - Detroit Professional Chapter from 2012 onwards. In this role, they provided mentorship and technical direction for a student-led drinking water project in Irkaswaa, Kenya, and coordinated communication between the EWB national office, regional steering committee, and local chapters. Dan also served as the Chapter President for three years and was responsible for raising over $100,000 for projects through volunteer-led fundraisers. Additionally, they were a Project Team member for another drinking water and sanitation project in Laguna de Apoyo, Nicaragua. Prior to that, they worked as a Project Engineer at Hubbell, Roth & Clark starting in 2011. Before their professional career, they were a Teaching Assistant at Michigan State University, where they taught a 100 level math class, prepared lectures, graded assignments, and held office hours and 1-on-1 tutoring sessions. Dan also worked as a private math tutor during the summer of 2007.
Dan Royal, PE earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University. Their field of study included Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mathematics, and Connected Learning. In 2016, they obtained the Professional Engineer certification from the State of Michigan. Additionally, in 2014, they completed the Pipeline, Manhole, and Lateral Assessment and Certification Program (PACP, MACP, LACP) from NASSCO.
