Rob Barton

Founding Engineer at Hubble Network

Rob Barton has a diverse work experience in the field of technology and engineering. Rob has held various roles in different companies over the years.

Starting in 1999, Barton worked at Compaq as a Verification Engineer for the Alpha Development Group. Rob focused on the verification of Alpha EV7's cache coherency protocol and contributed to the development of a distributed simulation environment.

In 2001, Barton joined Intel Corporation as a Microprocessor Design Engineer in the Enterprise Product Group. Rob played a role in the Alpha Development Group acquisition and started in verification before transitioning to a design and architecture position.

From 2007 to 2008, Barton worked at Wirama, Inc. as an Embedded Systems Engineer. Rob was the first engineer and lead firmware developer, specializing in passive RFID reader development and tag positioning capabilities.

Barton then moved to Checkpoint Systems in 2009, where they worked as an Embedded Systems Engineer. Rob played a key role in improving the C1G2 RFID reader, which resulted in the development of Checkpoint's Overhead EAS system with "Wirama Radar".

In 2011, Barton became a Co-founder and Engineer at Iotera. Rob led the team in developing a crowd-sourced, low data rate, wide-area IoT network. The company successfully created hardware, protocols, cloud systems, and mobile apps until it was acquired by Ring, Inc. in 2018.

Following that, Barton joined Amazon in 2018 as an Architect/Engineer for Amazon Sidewalk. Rob contributed to the wireless protocol and firmware development, applying their learnings from Iotera to help shape Amazon Sidewalk.

Most recently, Barton joined Hubble Network in 2021 as a Founding Engineer, where they continue to apply their expertise in the field.

Rob Barton received their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they studied from 1996 to 2001.
