Full Stack Engineer at Hubble Technology

Dave S. has a diverse range of work experience in various roles and industries. Dave started their career working as an enumerator for the U.S. Census Bureau, where they conducted census in the middle Rio Grande Valley region. Dave then worked as a lab consultant at The University of Texas-Pan American before transitioning to a research assistant and teaching assistant role at The University of Texas - Pan American. During this time, they collaborated on different research projects, published papers, and taught an introductory computer science course.

In 2013, Dave became self-employed and participated in various commercial applications and prototypes, using different programming languages and platforms. Dave developed a large-scale database for a crowd-sourced rating application used for rating food and drink combinations.

In 2015, Dave joined IBM as a staff software engineer, where they worked with a large international team to develop and maintain enterprise products for IBM Power Systems. Dave designed and implemented new functionality, as well as fixed defects in the existing code base. Dave also launched a new GUI tool for the latest PowerHA product release.

From 2018 to 2021, Dave worked at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley as a software engineering specialist for the Center for Advanced Radio Astronomy. Dave developed automated data gathering scripts using Python and deployed them on remote sensors for collecting data. Dave also collaborated with zoologists to remotely gather data and determine the population count of a potentially endangered species. Additionally, they developed alert and monitoring programs for live radio telescope systems to detect pulsars in space.

Most recently, in 2022, Dave joined Hubble Technology as a full-stack engineer.

Dave S. earned a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Computer Science from The University of Texas-Pan American between the years 2007 and 2011. Dave then went on to complete a Master's degree in Computer Science at the same university, with a focus on their field of study, from 2011 to 2015.
