Frank Catalano

Frank Catalano serves as the General Manager at Hudbay Minerals Inc., overseeing Surface Operations since September 2019. Previously, Catalano held various key leadership positions within the company, including Director of Maintenance and Asset Management. With extensive experience at Vale for over a decade, Catalano contributed to significant projects such as the Digital Mine initiative and the Copper Cliff Mine Project, ensuring that operational improvements in safety, cost competitiveness, and production are realized. Early career highlights include roles at Inco Ltd., where Catalano’s leadership led to the achievement of the safest operating mine in Canada and various enhancements in production efficiency and maintenance systems. Catalano holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from Queen's University and an MBA from Laurentian University.
