Sebastien Fortin currently serves as the Executive Director of Geotechnical & Tailings Services at Hudbay Minerals Inc., a position held since April 2024. Prior to this role, Sebastien Fortin spent over 16 years at Teck Resources Limited, where key positions included Director of Business Strategies for Copper Growth, Manager of Technical Services, and Superintendent of Mine Engineering. Sebastien Fortin led the Mine Engineering department at Teck Highland Valley Copper, supervising multiple technical groups and ensuring effective geotechnical practices. Earlier in their career, Sebastien Fortin held various engineering roles at AMEC Environment & Infrastructure and Kinross Gold Corporation, contributing to significant projects such as the Kearl Lake Oil Sands Project and the Kupol Gold Project. Sebastien Fortin holds an M.B.A. from the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University, and both a Master’s and Engineer's degree in Mining Engineering and Geological/Geophysical Engineering from Université Laval.
