Jim Hooghuis has a diverse work experience in the insurance industry. Jim started their career at the Home Insurance Company in 1986, where they held the role of AVP and was responsible for underwriting personnel writing directors and officers liability. After working at the Home Insurance Company for six years, they joined Reliance National Insurance Company in 1992 as VP. At Reliance, they founded the Excess & Surplus Directors and Officers unit specializing in High Tech, Biotech, IPO's, Start-Ups, Turnaround situations, Financial Restructurings, mostly for publicly traded or VC backed private companies. Jim then went on to establish their own company, Hooghuis Group LLC, in 1996, where they served as CEO & Chairman. Under their leadership, Hooghuis Inc became one of the premier specialty D&O underwriting facilities. In 2008, they joined Hudson Insurance Group as EVP, CUO, Hudson Financial Products.

Jim Hooghuis attended Fordham University from 1978 to 1982, where they pursued a degree in Philosophy with a focus on English. Following their time at Fordham, they enrolled at the University of Bridgeport from 1983 to 1986, where they obtained a J.D. degree in Law.
