Katie Leung is an experienced environmental professional with a strong background in wildlife conservation and outreach. Currently serving as the Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator for Riverkeeper since September 2021, Katie previously worked with the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation as a Field Technician for the Wildlife Unit, where responsibilities included managing urban raptor monitoring projects, conducting wildlife outreach events, and presenting conservation research at various conferences. Katie's earlier roles include serving as an Environmental Educator with AmeriCorps, a REACH Bison Technician with the Crane Trust, and a Naturalist at the Five Rivers Environmental Education Center. Educational credentials include a Master of Arts in Environmental Biology from Miami University and a Bachelor's degree in Conservation Biology from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry.

Riverkeeper is a member-supported watchdog organization dedicated to defending the Hudson River and its tributaries and protecting the drinking water supply of nine million New York City and Hudson Valley residents. Riverkeeper is actively involved in several issues and campaigns including, gas drilling also known as fracking, Indian Point, water quality, sewage contamination, pollution enforcement, and Newtown Creek and Gowanus Canal Superfund cleanup. For more than 45 years Riverkeeper has been New York’s clean water advocate. We have helped to establish globally recognized standards for waterway and watershed protection and serve as the model and mentor for the growing Waterkeeper movement that includes nearly 200 Keeper programs across the country and around the globe.
