Director, Sustainability & Social Compliance at Hudson's Bay

Julie Yan has a strong background in sustainability and social compliance. Julie started their career in 2000 as an Assistant Consultant at Hill and Knowlton, where they focused on public affairs. In 2002, they joined Hudson's Bay Company as a Public and Community Affairs Specialist. Julie later advanced to the role of Senior Manager, Social Compliance, overseeing social compliance initiatives within the company. In 2014, they became the Director of Sustainability & Social Compliance at Hudson's Bay, where they developed and implemented sustainability strategies and managed waste management goals. Recently, in 2021, they also took on the role of Sessional Instructor at the Schulich School of Business - York University.

Julie Yan attended Ryerson University from 2011 to 2013, where they obtained a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Documentary Media. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English Language and Literature/Letters at the University of Waterloo from 1992 to 1997.
