Gaia Bonini is a Senior Specialist in International Disaster Response at Humane Society International since February 2023, focusing on strategies to integrate animal welfare into disaster management and implementing training programs for regional teams. Previously, at Tufts Center for Conservation Medicine, Gaia served as a Research Associate, leading mixed methods studies in sub-Saharan Africa to enhance One Health engagement. As Hub Manager for USAID STOP Spillover, Gaia coordinated a consortium addressing zoonotic disease threats in Africa and Southeast Asia. Other roles include Human-Wildlife Coexistence Researcher at WildAid, Marine Mammal Stranding Assistant at IFAW, and Mongolia Country Director at Rustic Pathways, where Gaia developed community development and conservation programs. Gaia holds a Master’s in Wildlife Conservation Medicine from Tufts University and has extensive experience in conservation and community engagement initiatives.
