The Humane Society of Huron Valley is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt public charity. We are independently run and rely on the generosity of people like you to continue our mission to support the loving, responsible care of every animal in our community. HSHV is not affiliated with or funded by Michigan Humane Society or any other humane organization. 

HSHV was founded in 1896. We are the only animal shelter in Washtenaw County that takes in all types of unwanted, injured, lost, stray, abandoned, and abused animals. Each year we help over 10,000 dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small animals.
 
We are governed by a board of directors and are supported by generous individual and corporate donors.

The Veterinary and Animal Care Team at the Humane Society of Huron Valley is responsible for providing medical care, treatment, and support to the animals in the shelter. This includes performing surgeries, diagnosing and treating illnesses, assisting with adoptions, and ensuring the overall well-being of animals. They work closely with veterinarians, vet technicians, and animal care specialists to support the health and happiness of over 10,000 animals annually.
