Humane Society of Tampa Bay
The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is dedicated to ending animal homelessness and providing care and comfort for companion animals in need. Our vision is leading the way because every life counts. We were founded in 1912 and are one of Florida's oldest non-profits. We have three primary areas of focus: Adoptions of Homeless Animals - In 2018, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay saved 9,874 animals. In addition to pet adoptions, we also offer several "safety-net" programs that help keep pets out of shelters and in their loving homes. Affordable Pet Healthcare - In 2018, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay saw over 33,000 pets at our Animal Hospital. Here we offer full service, affordable healthcare to community pets. In addition, we are committed to the spaying and neutering of community pets. In 2018, we spayed and neutered nearly 13,000 animals. Although we offer affordable care, it is done with the highest standards. In 2014, we were very proud to be the first non-profit animal hospital in the state of Florida awarded accreditation from AAHA, which is the gold standard. In 2016, we received AAHA accreditation again. Feral Cat Spay/Neuter - The Tampa community is faced with a year-round feral cat problem. It is estimated that there are over 200,000 feral cats in our community. Since 2007, our animal hospital has devoted one day per week strictly to the sterilization of feral cats in Tampa Bay and we have sterilized over 60,000 feral cats. The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is a Platinum Participant on Guidestar and has a certified Service Enterprise Volunteer Program.
