Humboldt Area Foundation
Russell Heartwells is a Front Desk Coordinator and Grants Assistant at Humboldt Area Foundation since October 2020, following a diverse range of roles at Humboldt State University. Previous positions include serving as a Seasonal Carpet Cleaner, Eric Rofes Center Volunteer & Resources Coordinator, Seasonal Assistant Lead Housekeeper, Fiscal Director, Seasonal Housekeeper, and Student Teacher Assistant, highlighting experience in volunteer coordination, budget management, and cleaning services. Additionally, Russell held the role of Queers & Allies Committee Vice President while contributing to organizational development and community events. An educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Geological and Earth Sciences from Humboldt State University, completed in 2020.

Humboldt Area Foundation is the community foundation of and for the citizens of the Redwood, Trinity and Wild Rivers Region. Humboldt Area Foundation was founded on May 3, 1972 by Vera Perrott Vietor. Since 1972, Vera's vision has been echoed by literally thousands of neighbors committed to building a better community. Through the generosity of the community, Vera's original $2.4 million has grown to more than $78 million and has resulted in nearly $60 million in grants and scholarships to local charitable organizations and students throughout our community.
