Niels Pinkwart serves as the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Professor of Computer Science Education and Computer Science and Society at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin since May 2013. Additionally, Niels Pinkwart is the Scientific Director of the Educational Technology Lab at the Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz (DFKI) since November 2019, and was a Principal Investigator at the Weizenbaum Institute for the Networked Society from September 2017 to September 2022. Previous roles include Professor of Human-Centered Information Systems and Assistant Professor leading the research group "Collaboration Systems & CSCW" at Clausthal University of Technology from September 2006 to May 2013, as well as serving as a Post Doctoral Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University from September 2005 to August 2006 and a Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Duisburg-Essen from December 1999 to July 2005. Niels Pinkwart obtained a Dr. in Computer Science from the University of Duisburg-Essen in 2005 and a State Exam (MSc level) in Computer Science and Mathematics from the same institution in 1999.
