Kara LaVelle has a diverse work experience spanning from 2004 to the present day. Kara started their career as a Seasonal Cashier at SHOPKO STORES INC in 2004 and later worked as a Barista at Dunn Bros Coffee from 2005 to 2006. Kara then joined the Fund for Public Interest Research in 2007, initially as a Canvasser and later as a Field Manager. In 2008, they joined TakeAction MN as a Canvasser/Organizer. Kara LaVelle received their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Minnesota, where they studied from 2006 to 2010. Hummingbird Wholesale is an organic foods wholesaler based in Eugene, OR. We source beans, grains, seeds, nuts, honey and other agricultural products from farmers in Oregon and the greater Pacific Northwest. We are ardent supporters of organic and sustainable agriculture, and work with farmers and customers to identify opportunities to transition acreage to organic cultivation. We also distribute agricultural products sourced from further afield, when such products might not be readily available in our region. Our staff members produce several shelf-stable products in our food production facility in Eugene, including granolas, nut and seed butters, and sprouted and dehydrated foods. We also distribute high-quality flours, granolas, teas, and other items sourced from select local processors. Currently, Hummingbird serves customers from San Francisco, CA to Bellingham, WA. Our primary customer base includes independent and co-op grocery stores, institutional food programs, and organic food processors.
