Deb Edmunds is currently the WHS Officer at the Hunter Medical Research Institute. Deb has previously worked as a Laboratory Supervisor at Macquarie College and as an OH&S Advisor at the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.
At Macquarie College, Deb was responsible for supervising the day-to-day running of the Senior and Junior High School Laboratories, including management of consumables, lab equipment and practical lab preparation.
At the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, Deb was responsible for providing specialist OHS and Risk Management advice to management, employees and contractors for daily operations and projects. This included investigating and reporting on workplace accidents and incidents, developing policies and procedures to ensure the health and safety of all employees, contractors and visitors to the company, conducting audits and inspections of work sites, identifying hazards and risks, and formulate and implement preventative actions and corrective measures.
Deb has consistently promoted a safety culture that strives for zero harm and includes continuous improvement and a commitment to focusing on clear communication and consultation. Deb has maintained an awareness of current developments and standards in the field of occupational health and safety to ensure that the company they are working for continues to comply with best practice and legal requirements.
Deb Edmunds has a Master of Occupational Safety Health and Environmental Management from Western Sydney University, a Diploma of Quality Auditing Completing from Newcastle TAFE, a Postgraduate Certificate of Health Management from The University of New England, and a Diploma in Health Science from Hunter Institute of Technology. Deb also has a Cert IV in Workplace Training & Assessment from Newcastle TAFE.
