Johan Hoekwater has extensive experience in information technology and logistics, currently serving as the General Manager of Information Technology at ECT Rotterdam since August 2005, after holding the position of Manager Logistics Development. Previously, Johan worked at Gottwald Port Technology as the Manager of Software Development and began their career as a Software Developer at ECT and Biviator Benelux B.V. Johan has a strong educational background with degrees in Business Administration (Project Management) from The Hague University of Applied Sciences and Technical Computer Science from Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, complemented by additional training at Stichting Bedrijfskunde NRP and BSLP.

Hutchison Ports ECT Rotterdam is one of the leading and most advanced container terminal operator in Europe. The company handles a majority of the containers at the port of Rotterdam. ECT operates two terminals to this extent: the Hutchison Ports ECT Delta and the Hutchison Ports ECT Euromax at the Maasvlakte (directly on the North Sea). European Gateway Services is a part of ECT Rotterdam, and offers its clients an extended network of inland terminals and extended gates that are connected to the deepsea terminals in Rotterdam through high-frequency rail and inland shipping services. Extra services are added to these efficient connections, especially in the area of customs clearance.
