Leo Ruijs

Leo Ruijs has extensive experience in financial leadership and management, currently serving as Chief Executive Officer at ECT Rotterdam since October 2002, where previous roles included Director Finance and Manager Financial Accounting & Treasury. Active in various organizations, Leo holds positions as Voorzitter and Bestuurslid at Sparta Rotterdam and Bestuurslid at Deltalinqs and Rotterdam Port Promotion Council. Leo has also led initiatives at Stichting De Betrokken Spartaan, advocating for community-focused development through sports. Prior roles include CFO at Hutchison Port Holdings Northern Europe and La Perla International Living, as well as CFO at AND International Publishers. ECT Rotterdam (Europe Container Terminals)

Hutchison Ports ECT Rotterdam is one of the leading and most advanced container terminal operator in Europe. The company handles a majority of the containers at the port of Rotterdam. ECT operates two terminals to this extent: the Hutchison Ports ECT Delta and the Hutchison Ports ECT Euromax at the Maasvlakte (directly on the North Sea). European Gateway Services is a part of ECT Rotterdam, and offers its clients an extended network of inland terminals and extended gates that are connected to the deepsea terminals in Rotterdam through high-frequency rail and inland shipping services. Extra services are added to these efficient connections, especially in the area of customs clearance.
