Jörn Scherzer

Head Of Climate, Waste And Resource Recovery at Hutt City Council

Jörn Scherzer has extensive work experience in various roles related to sustainability, climate, and waste management. Jörn is currently the Head of Climate and Waste at Hutt City Council, a role they have held since May 2021. Prior to this, they worked as the Manager of Sustainability and Resilience at the same council from January 2018 to May 2021. Jörn also held positions at the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority, where they worked as a Relationship Manager in Transport from July 2014 to January 2018, and as a Manager of Transport Partnerships from December 2012 to June 2014. Jörn had earlier joined the authority as a Senior Adviser in Transport in January 2012. Jörn's career in the environmental sector began at the Ecologic Foundation, where they worked as a Research Fellow from January 2006 to February 2008. Jörn also served as an Adviser on Environment at the Ministry of Transport, New Zealand, from March 2008 to December 2011. In addition to their professional work, Jörn has been actively involved as the Chair of the Board/President of the Hoe Tonga Pacifica Waka Ama Association (Outrigger Canoeing Wellington) since November 2009.
