Nigel Hayward, BSc., has held various design engineering roles since 2008. Nigel began their career as a Freelance Design Engineer at Horstman Defence Systems Ltd. and Messier-Dowty. In 2009, they were a Mechanical Designer at Schlumberger, where they designed a composite SubC mat to measure stress and strain in risers. From 2010-2011, they were a Mechanical Design Engineer at GE Aviation, where they worked 50% for Chief Engineer on A320 related modifications and the remainder spent working for Product Support Dept. producing repair schemes 3D models and detail drawings for in-service equipment. From 2014-2015, they were a Mechanical Engineer at Ultra Electronics PALS, where they used Catia V5 to design and detail components for Translating Cable Assembly and Teamcentre v4. Nigel was also a Mechanical Designer at Weatherford Smart Stabilizer Systems Ltd. from 2014-2015 and a Design Engineer at Triumph Actuation Systems UK & IOM and Hybrid Air Vehicles Ltd. from 2014-2015.

Nigel Hayward completed their BSc in Engineering and Technology from The Open University in 2007. Prior to this, they attended Sir Thomas Rich's Grammar School from 1971 to 1976.
