Alex Beckitt

Alex Beckitt has a diverse work experience in the renewable energy industry. They have held various roles at different organizations throughout their career.

Starting in 1998, Alex worked as a Policy Analyst at the Department of Economic Development - Tasmania. They then moved to the Department of Infrastructure Energy and Resources - Tasmania in 2000 as a Policy Analyst. From 2001 to 2003, Alex served as an Environmental Consultant at Hydro Tasmania.

In 2002, Alex took on multiple roles simultaneously. They became the Executive Officer at Renewable Energy Generators of Australia and also served as the Secretary at Renewable and Sustainable Energy ROUNTABLE - Australia.

From 2005 to 2007, Alex worked as a Policy Secondee/Intern at the International Energy Agency in the Renewable Energy Unit. Following this, Alex returned to Renewable Energy Generators of Australia in 2006, where they served as a Director until 2007.

In 2007, Alex joined Hydro Tasmania as their Manager Strategic Policy. In 2014, they were promoted to the position of Head of Strategic Policy, which they held until the present.

During their time at Hydro Tasmania, Alex also took on additional responsibilities at the Clean Energy Council. Starting in 2009, Alex served as the Chair of the International Directorate and the Hydropower Directorate. In 2014, they became the Deputy Chair of the Board, a role they held until 2022.

Furthermore, Alex also contributed to the International Energy Agency as the Deputy Chair of the Hydropower Technology Collaboration Programme, starting in 2013.

Alex Beckitt has a diverse education history. In 1991, they began their undergraduate studies at the University of Tasmania, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Environmental Management, Economic Geography, Sociology, Political Science, and Law. They completed their undergraduate studies in 2001.

In 1998, Alex attended TAFE Tasmania to obtain a Certificate IV in Construction, specializing in the Conservation of Cultural Heritage Places.

In 2003, they enrolled in the Australian Institute of Company Directors for a Graduate program, but the field of study is not specified.
