Dane Merkel

Dane Merkel is an experienced professional in the engineering and energy sectors, currently serving as the Head of Spot Markets at Hydro Tasmania since March 2021, following roles as a Spot Trading Analyst and Generation Controller. Prior to this, Dane held positions at TasNetworks from February 2017 to March 2021, including Network Services Engineer and Graduate Electrical Engineer in the TasNetworks Graduate Program, focusing on areas such as network innovation and asset performance. Dane's engineering experience began as a Co-op student engineer at Waterline Projects, where involvement in multiple PLC projects occurred, and as a Co-op electrical engineer at Ergon Energy, working on control systems for load management and SCADA. Dane holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Electrical from CQUniversity, earned from 2012 to 2016.
