Matt Johnston

Matt Johnston is an experienced Project Engineer with a robust background in various engineering domains, primarily within the energy and water sectors. Currently employed at Hydro Tasmania since October 2018, Matt oversees the design and supply of a new turbine and MIV for the Lemonthyme Power Station Upgrade, managing turbine model tests and configuration. Previous experience includes significant roles at Wood, where Matt was embedded at Melbourne Water's largest water treatment plant, and at Bureau Veritas, focusing on mechanical engineering in the mining sector. Matt has also contributed to advanced analysis for offshore energy systems as a Design Engineer at Wood and served as a Pipelines Consultant with ExxonMobil, supporting the re-qualification of transmission pipelines. Academically, Matt holds a Bachelor of Engineering and a Certificate IV in Frontline Management from the University of Tasmania and Nick Randall Leadership Development Pty Ltd, respectively, along with an Honours in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tasmania.
