Peter Esser

Peter Esser currently serves as the Cyber Security Operations Lead at Hydro Tasmania since November 2020, where responsibilities include leading a team of analysts in monitoring threats, incident response, and improving cyber security operations. Previously, Peter held the role of Cyber Security Operations Analyst, focusing on threat monitoring and developing alerts using Splunk Enterprise/SOAR. Additionally, Peter has served as a Hobart Committee Member for the Australian Information Security Association (AISA) from March 2022 to June 2024 and worked as a Cyber Security Support Officer at the Department of State Growth (Tas) from January 2019 to November 2020, engaging in prototyping and implementing SIEM solutions. Peter's educational background includes a Graduate Certificate in Cyber/Computer Forensics and Counterterrorism from Macquarie University and a BA with Honours in International Relations from the University of Adelaide.
