Susan Silas is a visual artist with a career spanning several decades, primarily focused on digital media, video, sculpture, and photography. Notable works include large-scale projects such as Helmbrechts walk, the series found birds, explorations of mayfly life on the Tisza River in Hungary, and ongoing self-portraiture in love in the ruins; sex over 50. Silas's art examines themes of embodiment, representation, and the evolving understanding of self. In addition to artistic practice, Silas has contributed as an occasional writer for Hyperallergic and co-edited MOMMY, a platform dedicated to appreciating women artists. Silas holds a Master of Fine Arts from California Institute of the Arts and a Bachelor's degree from Reed College.
