Nam Chu Hoai has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. In 2010, they started as a Photographer for virtual:nights:media Ltd., capturing event photographs for a premier German Event website. In the same year, they also worked as a Programmer, developing an iPhone application for betterplace.org.
In 2011, Nam served as an Intern at Apture, where they contributed to both the Python Backend and JavaScript frontend, optimizing Google Local questions and improving the Map viewing experience. They also co-founded Credport in 2012, building a trust platform for Collaborative Consumption marketplaces using Rails, Backbone, and Neo4j.
Nam attended Boston University from 2010 to 2014, where they pursued their studies as a Student. In 2014, they began working as a Freelancer, specializing in Fullstack Web Development until 2015. From 2014 to 2018, Nam held the position of a Software Engineer at Wellframe, working on web development projects using Ruby on Rails, React, Scala, ElasticSearch, and GCP/Kubernetes technologies.
In 2016, Nam became a Global Entrepreneur in Residence (GEIR) at the Venture Development Center at UMass Boston, providing mentorship and support in entrepreneurship and innovation through software products. They held this role until 2017.
From 2018 to 2022, Nam joined cLabs as a Software Engineer, playing a crucial role in building and launching the Celo platform, which involved designing the identity protocol, implementing smart contracts, and handling async processes in the mobile wallet. They eventually led the Contracts and Primitives team and worked on special projects.
Most recently, in 2022, Nam became the Co-Founder of Abacus Works, a venture in which they are currently involved.
Nam Chu Hoai attended Boston University from 2010 to 2014, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Computer Science.
