Soumya Mitra

Soumya Mitra is an experienced engineering professional currently serving as Engineering Team Leader and Senior Staff Design Engineer at Hypertherm since May 2012, focusing on the design and development of plasma cutting technologies. Prior to this, Soumya held positions as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and PhD Researcher at Michigan Technological University from September 2006 to April 2012, specializing in thermal sciences and multiphase flow analysis. Soumya's research included applications in space-based thermal systems for NASA and cooling solutions for micro-scale electronics. Additional experience includes a research internship at Argonne National Laboratory and an engineering internship at The Automotive Research Association of India, further enhancing expertise in fluid dynamics and thermal systems. Soumya holds a PhD in Energy Thermo Fluids from Michigan Technological University and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Savitribai Phule Pune University.
