Francesco Buongiorno has been working in the field of molecular biology since 2014. From 2014 to 2016, they worked as an intern at the European Institute of Oncology (IEO - Visintin's group) in Milan, where they characterized the essential phosphates Cdc14 in the model organism Saccharomyces cerevisiae. During this experience, they acquired full command of fundamental biological techniques such as DNA and protein extraction and purification, electrophoresis, western blot and PCR. Francesco also engaged in conceptual activities such as preparation and discussion of scientific works and writing activities, culminating in a Master's thesis. Since 2016, they have been working as a Molecular biologist - PCR assay developer at Hyris Ltd. Here, they deal with the development and validation of PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) diagnostic assays for the authentication of herbal and probiotics products. Francesco has taken advantage of many bioinformatics tools, DNA extraction and purification methods and Real-time PCR/LAMP technologies, and has acquired complete command of all the steps necessary for the development and the validation of a PCR assay, from preliminary in-silico analyses to the writing of scientific reports.
Francesco Buongiorno obtained a Secondary School Diploma from Istituto Tecnico Industriale G. Omar, Novara in 2010. Francesco then went on to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Biotecnology from Università degli Studi di Milano in 2013, followed by a Master's degree in Molecular biology from the same university in 2015.
