Nick Abels

Nick Abels is a seasoned professional in vehicle safety and crashworthiness, with significant experience at Hyundai Kia America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) from April 2018 to April 2022 as the Manager of the Vehicle Safety Test Team. Abels successfully designed Hyundai's first North American crash test facility and led the Field Crash Investigation Lab, enhancing the company's safety leadership and conducting various crash tests. Prior roles include Senior Safety & Crashworthiness Engineer and Project Engineer at MGA Research Co., where expertise in automotive occupant protection and regulatory testing was developed. Early career experiences include positions at CSAGeek Squad and Peddinghaus Corporation. Nick Abels holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
