Craig Laatz has extensive experience in quantitative modeling and risk management. Craig currently serves as the Director of Predictive Modeling & Quantitative Analytics at Hyundai Capital America, leading a team in developing and maintaining models for evaluating originations, default risk, portfolio credit loss risk, and residual value risk. Craig also provides guidance to a team of statistical modelers and supports critical risk management processes.
Prior to their current role, Craig worked at MUFG as a Vice President, where they designed and administered Economic Capital models for multiple risk types and oversaw a team responsible for maintaining these models. Craig also worked at TD Insurance as a Senior Manager, implementing model risk management to ensure regulatory compliance and enhance risk mitigation.
Craig's previous experience includes roles at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, BMO Financial Group, University of Cape Town, and African Institute for Mathematical Sciences. Craig has a strong background in model validation, risk assessment, and collaboration to enhance risk management processes.
Craig Laatz completed their Bachelor of Science (Honours), Cum Laude in Mathematics and Physics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Craig then pursued their Master of Science in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics at the University of Cape Town.
