Murray Newton

Murray Newton has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Murray has held positions at Hyzon Motors, where they served as the Head of Corporate Development & External Relations ANZ, focusing on strategic growth projects and partnerships in the Australian and New Zealand hydrogen ecosystems. Murray also led government and regulatory affairs for the ANZ region. Prior to this, Murray was the Head of External Relations and Hydrogen Communities ANZ/EU at Hyzon Motors, supporting the growth and development of hydrogen clusters and communities in Australia and New Zealand, while also leading government affairs efforts in Europe and ANZ.

Before joining Hyzon Motors, Murray worked at the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry as the Head of Member and Industry Engagement, where they played a key role in engaging with members and fostering industry relationships. Murray also gained valuable experience at Viva Energy Australia as the Media and Corporate Relations Manager, overseeing media relations and corporate communications for one of Australia's leading energy companies.

Murray has also contributed to the maritime industry, serving as the Chair of Communications and Corporate Affairs Working Group at Ports Australia, the peak body representing Australia's ports community. Additionally, they have held roles at the Port of Melbourne and worked for the Victorian Government as a Senior Policy Adviser and Policy Adviser, focusing on areas such as roads, road safety, ports, and treasury.

Earlier in their career, Murray worked as a Policy and Campaigns Adviser for the Victorian Leader of the Opposition at the Parliament of Victoria and as a Swim School Coordinator at Xavier College.

Overall, Murray Newton has a strong background in corporate development, external relations, government affairs, and industry engagement, with experience in the hydrogen, energy, maritime, and government sectors.

Murray Newton completed their education history with a Masters of Media Communications (honours) from RMIT University in the years 2009-2012. Prior to that, they obtained a Victorian Certificate of Education from Xavier College from 1996 to 2003. In 2020, Murray pursued a Graduate Certificate in Business from the University of Melbourne. Murray also attended the Australian Institute of Company Directors in 2021 to complete a Company Directors Course.
