Alan Boyd began their work experience in 1996 as a Technical Consultant at GE, where they gained extensive knowledge in networking technologies and played a role in developing a new CRM and vehicle leasing management system. In 2001, they joined the Institute of Occupational Medicine (IOM) as an IT Consultant, where they managed and supported a Microsoft Windows network infrastructure and participated in various business and IT projects. In 2004, they moved up to become a Principal Consultant at IOM, responsible for strategic planning of ICT service delivery supporting over 200 users. Finally, in 2014, Alan became the Head of Information Technology at IOM, where they developed and implemented an organisational-aligned, technology-led strategy and transformed service delivery using new technologies.
Alan Boyd earned a Higher National Diploma in Accounting from Edinburgh College in 1994. Alan later pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology at the University of the West of Scotland from 2009 to 2011. In 2014, Alan obtained a Master of Science degree in Strategic ICT Leadership from Edinburgh Napier University. Alongside their formal education, Alan has also acquired additional certifications such as Box Certified Professional, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), and VMware VCP Data Centre Virtualisation.
