Nathan Baker has a diverse range of work experience spanning several industries. Nathan began their career as an Infantry Officer in the British Army, where they gained leadership skills and experience in training and operational planning. Nathan then moved into the private sector, working at ACO Technologies as a Product Training Manager, developing and delivering training packages.

Nathan then joined Holdfast, a Joint Venture between Babcock International and Carillion, where they served as a Training and Development Manager. Nathan led the training operations department and implemented a training transformation program, improving operational outputs and reducing costs.

After their time at Holdfast, Nathan joined Babcock International Group PLC, initially as Head of Operations - Training and later as Business Enhancement - Procurement Synergy Implementation Lead. In these roles, they provided strategic direction, supported bid activities, and drove change and continuous improvement.

Nathan also worked at EU Skills Group as the Strategy & Development Director, where they were responsible for developing and implementing strategies for the organization. Nathan then joined the Institution of Civil Engineers as Director Engineering Knowledge, leading the professional learning division and implementing a new multi-disciplinary network.

Nathan has also held positions at De Montfort University as an Honorary Professor, the Association of Accounting Technicians as an Independent Board Adviser, and The Mining Institute of Scotland as a Trustee.

Currently, Nathan serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Occupational Medicine (IOM) Group, where they have created and implemented a strategic plan and budget focused on value and sustainability. Nathan has restructured the organization, broadened revenue streams, and delivered charitable objectives in the UK and internationally.

Throughout their career, Nathan has demonstrated leadership, strategic planning, and project management skills, along with a focus on training and development.

Nathan Baker attended the University of Leicester from 1992 to 1995, where they pursued a degree in Law. In 1998, they briefly attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. From 2007 to 2010, they studied Geography and the Environment at The Open University. Prior to their university education, Nathan attended Batley Grammar School. In 2017 and 2018, they participated in a program at the Windsor Leadership Trust.
