Andrew Carlson has a diverse work experience. Andrew started their career as an Engineering Intern at Vortex Optics in 2013, where they learned the fundamentals of working with a professional engineering team, including mechanical design, system design, and automation. Andrew also had the opportunity to work with vendors and application engineers outside of their company.

In 2014, Andrew continued their journey at Vortex Optics as a Mechanical Engineer, specializing in automation machine design. Andrew was responsible for selecting and integrating mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components for automation projects. Andrew also gained experience with Omron FH vision, NA HMI, NJ PLC and G5 motion drives, utilizing industrial networks like EtherCAT and EtherIP.

During their time at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville as an Undergraduate Research Assistant from 2011 to 2013, Andrew focused on characterizing the photogenerated current of Bismuth Ferrite using an Asylum Research AFM. Andrew gained skills in operating a plasma vapor deposition chamber and basic photolithography. Andrew also developed expertise in experimental design, investigating physical phenomena, and maintaining concise laboratory notes.

Most recently, Andrew joined i3 Product Development as a Firmware Engineer in 2022. Further details about their role and responsibilities are not provided.

Andrew Carlson attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville from 2009 to 2014, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Engineering Physics.
