Karine Herviou is the IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Nuclear Safety and Security, a position held since 2025. Prior to this, they served as Deputy General Director in charge of Nuclear Safety at the Institut de Radioprotection et de Sûreté Nucléaire from 2020 to 2025 and as Director of Systems and New Reactors at IRSN from 2017 to 2020. Herviou also briefly held the role of Deputy General Director at the Nuclear Safety and Radioprotection Authority in 2025.
