Cormac Downes

Cormac Downes serves as the Head of Finance Operations at Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail, a position held since January 2024. Previously, Cormac Downes worked as National Sales Manager at Iarnród Éireann and held various roles including Service Planning Manager and Manager of Projects, Planning & Development from 2001 to March 2015. Responsibilities included assessing operational and commercial capabilities for the DART business and leading a cross-functional project team to successfully commission multiple rolling stock projects. Cormac Downes started at Iarnród Éireann as a Project Manager from June 2000 to 2001. Academically, Cormac Downes earned an MSc in Marketing from UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School and an MBA from Dublin City University, along with foundational education from Belvedere College.
