Alex Villalta has a diverse work experience in various engineering roles. They currently work as an Electrical Design Engineer II at iA, where they are responsible for creating and modifying engineering drawings and developing internal drawing and safety standards. Prior to this, they worked as an Associate Electrical Engineer at iA, where they assisted the Electrical Design team and also worked on commissioning and troubleshooting manufactured devices.
Before joining iA, Alex worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University at Buffalo School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. They worked on various projects in the Bioinstrumentation Lab and assisted with their master's and incomplete doctoral project. They also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for multiple courses, including Biomedical Engineering Biosignals Laboratory and Biomedical Circuits and Signals.
Additionally, Alex gained experience as a Shift Manager at Old Country Buffet, where they managed employees, ordered products, and ensured the smooth operation of the restaurant. They started in a Carver position and worked their way up to the final position of Shift Manager.
Alex has also served as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University at Buffalo (UB).
Alex Villalta completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering at the University at Buffalo from 2011 to 2017. Following that, they pursued a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University at Buffalo, which they completed from 2017 to 2020. Additionally, Alex has obtained several certifications, including AutoCAD: Spaces and Workspaces, AutoCAD 2022 Essential Training, AutoCAD: Interface, Electrical Systems: Reading Drawings and Schematics, and Learning AutoCAD from LinkedIn. Alex has also completed the Biomedical Research Investigators and Biomedical Responsible Conduct of Research Course from the CITI Program, in July 2021 and January 2018 respectively.
