Senior Instructional Designer at IAT Insurance Group

Scott MacQuarrie has over 30 years of work experience in instructional design and learning development. Scott is currently working as a Senior Instructional Designer at IAT Insurance Group since September 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Zurich North America for almost a decade, first as a Senior Learning Architect in Human Resources Learning & Development from December 2013 to November 2020, and then as a Senior Instructional Designer for Claims University from November 2020 to June 2022.

Before joining Zurich North America, Scott worked at Beam for six years as a Manager of Instructional Design. Scott'sresponsibilities included creating and implementing learning strategies, partnering with senior leaders to support sales goals and change initiatives, administering Beam's Virtual Spirit Learning Management System, and designing and developing sales training and brand education programs.

Scott's career in instructional design started at Allstate Insurance Company, where they worked as a Senior Instructional Designer in Human Resources Education from 1999 to 2007. Prior to that, they worked at the Institute for the Learning Sciences at Northwestern University as a Senior Content Analyst from 1992 to 1999.

Throughout their career, Scott has achieved significant milestones, including establishing a culture of learning and proactive employee development, contributing to increased market share for Beam through brand education initiatives, and significantly expanding the Virtual Spirit learner base. Scott'swork has been recognized with awards, including the 2013 Brandon Hall Silver Award for "Best Use of Video in Learning" and recognition for the innovative implementation of a Learning Management System.

Scott MacQuarrie attended Washington State University from 1980 to 1985, where they pursued a double major in Instrumental Music Education and Trumpet Performance, earning a Bachelor of Music & Education degree. Following this, they enrolled at the University of Southern California from 1985 to 1988 and obtained a Master of Music degree, specializing in Trumpet Performance.

In terms of certifications, Scott MacQuarrie obtained an IL Professional Educators License from the Illinois State Board of Education in May 2020. Scott also received certification in Effective Listening from LinkedIn in April 2020 and became a Certified Facilitator under John Vautier of Vautier Communications in January 2011.
