Joan Umana has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Joan began their career as a Customer Service Specialist at Fujitsu Consulting Costa Rica in 2004. From there, they moved on to become a Senior Trainer Manager at HP, where they evaluated employees and implemented training programs to support their career growth.
Joan then joined Tech Data as a Business Development Manager for Central America and Mexico, where they developed strong customer relationships and identified new business opportunities. Joan later transitioned to a role at GBS Corporate Training, serving as an Agile Developer and Scrum specialist while also leading team transitions into Agile development.
In 2018, Joan joined Amazon as a Fraud Consultant, where they analyzed emerging trends and investigated online e-commerce fraud. Joan worked closely with internal teams and stakeholders to recommend solutions in an ambiguous environment.
In 2021, Joan joined NAKIVO as a Business Development Manager, responsible for conducting demos, creating new opportunities through research and relationship building, and managing CRM leads.
Currently, Joan works as an Account Executive BDM at iatricSystems, where they focus on opening a new territory and finding leads with a positive attitude and diligence. Joan has successfully opened doors with the Costa Rican public healthcare entities.

Joan Umana attended Universidad Hispanoamericana (CR) from 2005 to 2007, earning a Diplomatura in Turismo, ocio y naturaleza. From 2016 to 2018, Joan attended the Cisco Networking Academy, where they obtained a Sales expert certification in Tecnología informática/Tecnología de sistemas informáticos. In 2017, they studied Estudios Brasileños at the Academia líder. They also completed LESCO 1/2, a course in Lenguaje Señas Costarricense in January 2017. Joan further explored project management by becoming a Scrum Master through Universidad Cenfotec from 2017 to 2019. They obtained an additional Scrum Master certification in 2019, although the institution is not specified.
In 2019, Joan pursued Gestión de proyectos PMI at Universidad San Marcos, where they attended until 2021. During this period, they also engaged in professional development by completing a course in MS Project at Universidad para la Cooperación Internacional in September 2010. They also obtained a certification in Finanzas para no financieros from Universidad Latina de Costa Rica in January 2010 and Especialización Aduanera from Universidad para la Cooperación Internacional in August 2009.
