Tomas Binnewies has extensive experience in the automotive industry, currently serving as Abteilungsleiter at IAV since September 2003, overseeing Chassis Control Systems. Previous roles at IAV include Projektmanager, managing complex projects with national and international partners, and Abteilungsleiter for Powertrain Software Development focused on hybrid and electrification technologies. Additional experience includes leading teams in the development of hybrid drive systems and embedded software for automotive applications, as well as developing functionalities for engine control units. Prior to IAV, Tomas Binnewies worked as a Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), specializing in laser cooling of calcium and strontium for generating ultracold atoms used as frequency standards. Tomas Binnewies holds a Dr. rer. nat. in Physics from Leibniz Universität Hannover, a Diplom in Physics from Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, and a Vordiplom in Physics from Technische Universität Braunschweig.
