Michelle Ferrier, Ph.D., serves as the Executive Director of the Media Innovation Collaboratory since March 2020 and has held leadership roles such as Past President of the International Association of Women in Radio and Television and Founder/Publisher of LocallyGrownNews.com. Ferrier's academic experience includes positions as Dean of the School of Journalism & Graphic Communication at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and Associate Professor at Ohio University, where initiatives in media entrepreneurship were developed. Additionally, Ferrier led Journalism That Matters from 2015 to 2017, facilitating critical discussions on the evolving landscape of journalism. Earlier experience includes roles in news editing and online community management at Daytona Beach News-Journal and research positions focused on digital media curriculum development at the University of Central Florida. Ferrier holds a PhD in Texts and Technology from the University of Central Florida and an M.A. in Journalism from The University of Memphis.

IAWRT - International Association of Women in Radio and Television
IAWRT is an international network organization of women working in television, film, radio and web-based journalism with a mission to strengthen initiatives towards ensuring women’s views and values are an integral part of programming and to advance the impact of women in media. IAWRT collaborates with media organizations, organizes conferences, panel discussions and workshops, implements media projects and undertakes research and media productions. It is in consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and Department of Global Communications. OUR VISION Gender equity in the employment of women media professionals and the development of media output which enhances gender diversity in society. OUR EVENTS Regional and international conferences which provide forums for networking, and improving cultural understanding. these events include the screening or presentation of media programs, as well as the exchange of professional and technical knowledge and strategies to implement gender diversity in media outlets. Workshops and training for the professional development of members, with a focus on gender perspective in programs, development issues and management. Biennial Awards of Excellence which honour the creativity of women producers of outstanding radio and TV programs. Scholarship Fund support for media studies. Support for productions, training and projects for women in developing countries.
