Paula Alves is an accomplished professional in the field of animal cell technology, currently serving as CEO and Director of the Animal Cell Technology Unit at iBET - Instituto de Biologia Experimental e Tecnológica since 1990. Alves has been a Principal Investigator and Auxiliar Investigator at ITQB-UNL since June 2001, contributing significantly to research in the Animal Cell Technology Lab. Additionally, from May 2017 to June 2022, Alves served as Chairperson of the European Society for Animal Cell Technology (ESACT), fostering collaboration among experts in the field. Alves holds a PhD in Biochemical Engineering from Universidade Nova de Lisboa and a BSc in Biochemistry from Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, with earlier education in Quimicotecnica from Escola Secundaria De Queluz.
