Customs Specialist at BTFA project funded by USAID at IBI, Global Insights - Local Solutions

Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf has worked in a variety of roles since 1995. From 1995 to 1996, they were an AC to Additional Commissioner at the Bangladesh Customs and NBR. From 1996 to 2013, they worked as a Senior Fellow at the Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI). During this time, they also worked as an Ex Part time lecturer at Monash University from 2008 to 2013. Additionally, they were an Ex lecturer at the Department of Accounting at the University of Dhaka from 1995 to 1996. From 2013 to 2014, they were the Deputy Secretary at the Govt of Bangladesh. Since 2014, they have been a Customs Specialist at the BTFA project funded by USAID. Dr. Mohammad Abu'sresponsibilities include writing reports for Customs Advance Rulings, preparing draft SROs on Advance Ruling, providing policy support to the National Board of Revenue to implement AEO, Advance Ruling, Post Clearance Audit and establishment of a comprehensive database for internet based National Enquiry Point. Dr. Mohammad Abu has also worked as a member on the 8 member national committee to review and propose suggestions to launch new customs law for Bangladesh and supported BTFA project in conducting training courses for stakeholders on important customs matters.

Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf's education history began in 1983 when they attended Chaumuhani Madan Mohan High School and obtained their SSC. Dr. Mohammad Abu then attended Nizampur College, Mirsarai,Chittagong, where they obtained their HSC in 1986. In 1987, they attended Dhaka University and obtained their B com (Hons) M Com in 1992. Finally, in 2007, they attended Monash University and obtained their PhD in Trade and WTO in 2010.
