Philipp Wagner

Hardware Verification Engineer

Philipp Wagner is an experienced hardware verification engineer at IBM since December 2021 and a co-maintainer of the cocotb Python verification framework since September 2018. As the founding director of the FOSSi Foundation since October 2015, Wagner has focused on enabling companies and individuals to benefit from free and open source digital hardware. Previously, Wagner served as a senior hardware/software engineer at lowRISC CIC from December 2018 to October 2021, contributing significantly to the OpenTitan project. Wagner's academic background includes a Dr.-Ing. (PhD) in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, and a Diplom-Ingenieur (equivalent to M.Sc.) in Electrical and Computer Engineering, both from the Technical University of Munich. Research initiatives have revolved around developing innovative hardware and software solutions for easier software debugging in embedded systems, with a commitment to producing open-source solutions from research prototypes.
