Tom Beavin has extensive experience in software engineering, primarily with IBM since 1986. Currently serving as a Senior Software Engineer, Tom leads the DB2 for z/OS Query Optimization Development Team, focusing on optimizing database queries. Previously, Tom held the position of Advisory Software Engineer, leading the DB2 for z/OS Utilities Development team. Early in his career, Tom contributed as a co-op in IBM's Federal Systems Division and participated in the development of a prototype for a multimedia PC. Tom holds a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Computer Science from Illinois State University, earned between 1983 and 1985.
