Tom Mavrakakis

Tom Mavrakakis is a seasoned Legal Intellectual Property Advisor with over 30 years of experience in legal analysis and negotiation. They currently serve as the Director of Patents at IBM and hold adjunct professor positions at the University of Houston Law Center and Northwestern University. Previously, Tom was a partner at several prestigious law firms, including Haynes and Boone, LLP and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP & Affiliates, managing patent litigation and advising startups on patent strategies. They have also held significant roles at major companies such as Apple and ServiceNow, focusing on patent strategy and portfolio management. Tom earned a degree from Saint John's University between 1991 and 1994.
