Jen Sumiec has a diverse range of work experience in the mental health field. Their most recent role is as the Head of International Workplace Mental Health at ICAS World, a Lyra Health company. In this position, they oversee a comprehensive model that provides appointment booking with counselors worldwide. Jen also builds and manages a team to oversee the provider network and provide clinical and administrative support. Prior to this, Jen worked as a Project Lead for Global Workplace Mental Health and as a Regional Account Lead for the US at ICAS World.
Before joining ICAS World, Jen worked as an EAP Consultant/Counselor/Trainer for Northwestern Mutual for four years. Jen provided on-site assessment, short-term therapy, and referrals for mental health and substance use issues. Jen also collaborated with primary care providers for care coordination and delivered management consultation and coaching.
Prior to that, Jen worked as an Independent Consultant/Trainer at Balancing Life's Issues, where they delivered workplace consultation and training programs focused on mental health, wellbeing, professionalism, and coping with behavioral challenges.
Jen's early work experience includes roles at Empathia, Inc. as a Lead Psychotherapist & Senior Consultant, Senior Account Executive and Manager, Culture1st, Performance Specialist, and EAP Counselor. Their responsibilities in these roles included public speaking, training, managing key client accounts, providing assessment and therapy services, and designing program promotion strategies.
Before joining Empathia, Jen worked as an Intake Specialist at CIGNA Behavioral Health, where they completed telephonic mental health and substance abuse assessments and provided crisis intervention and referrals. Jen also taught as a Psychology Instructor at Glendale Community College.
Jen Sumiec's education history includes a Master of Arts degree in Health Psychology from Northern Arizona University, which they obtained from 1998 to 2000. Jen also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Psychology from St. Norbert College, graduating from 1994 to 1998. In 2006 to 2007, Jen attended Mount Mary University to study Counseling Psychology, although they did not obtain a degree from that institution.
In terms of additional certifications, Jen is a Licensed Professional Counselor, which they obtained from the Department of Safety and Professional Services in February 2019. Jen is also a Brainspotting Practitioner Level 1, certified by the MIDWEST BRAINSPOTTING INSTITUTE INC in October 2017. Furthermore, they hold a Gottman Couples Therapy Level 1 certification from The Gottman Institute, earned in April 2017. Jen has also completed training in Motivational Interviewing & SBIRT with Adults from the Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA) in September 2016. Lastly, they obtained the Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) certification from EAPA in August 2003.
